Britny + Portal 2 = <3
When the computer and video game developer Valve launched Portal in 2007 it quickly gained a cult status among hard-core gamers. Valve, who already was popular for developing games such as Half-life, became even more popular. When the launch of the sequel to Portal was edging closer Valve and EA gave Britny the mission to create a mini game, which aimed to raise awareness of the release of Portal 2. Initially the game was supposed to be a part of the launch campaign in the Nordics alone but EA in Germany, Britain and Italy liked it and decided to use it in their marketing as well.
Besides acting as a interactive preview of Portal 2 the game gave the option of pre-ordering the real game. To create a greater viral distribution players could snatch the embed code and post the game to their blogs or Facebook. Every published game got their own high score so that friends could compete against each other.
The total reach of the game was 233 000 people. More than 50 % of those choose to play the came and more than 15,000 pre-ordered Portal 2 through the widget. Play the game here if you want to measure your skills with Britny!
